Head and face
Facial features: Lines on the face are deeper and more prominent.
Eye shading: The eye has more shading.
Lips: The lips are fuller.
Nostril: The nostril is more defined.

Fillet (headband): The headband behind the ear is more defined.
Hair
"Williams" lines: An especially prominent 1–2 horizontal, squiggly lines appear in the hair below the "AG" of "POSTAGE".

A mint stamp that has been previoiusly hinged: £20-£25
A used stamp: £2-£4

What factors detemine the upper and lower range of the stamp value?

The main factors for the mint stamp is centering. For the used stamp a light postmark is preferred with centering also a consideration.
